Back to Business Returns September 4, a Community Celebration

 

Mark your calendars for Friday, September 4, when the Milton Chamber of Commerce and Milton Art Center once again present First Friday Back to Business, a lively community celebration welcoming the start of fall. Join friends, neighbors, families, and local businesses from 4:00 p.m. until dusk at the East Milton Deck,  Manning Park for a late afternoon and evening of music, children’s activities, a community art project, and fun!

Back to Business is a chance to reconnect after the summer, discover local businesses, enjoy live entertainment, and celebrate everything that makes our community such a wonderful place to live and work. Each year the event continues to grow, bringing together neighbors, local businesses, artists, musicians, and families for an enjoyable community gathering.

Music will once again be at the heart of Back to Business, with an outstanding lineup of local talent performing throughout the evening. This year’s performers include Franc Graham, Mini Split, The Relegated, Owl Haus, Lower Falls and Dark Crushes.

From Americana and indie pop to alternative rock and hometown punk, there’s something for every musical taste. Owl Haus, featuring Jen Myer and Ben Zoll, heartfelt songwriting, and the rich, expressive sound of pedal steel guitar. Mini Split with Joanna Weiss, Dan DeLeo, Jeremy Blanchard, Jen Myers, Benny Appleby, and Jeremy Clark deliver indie pop, original songwriting and melodies, and an energetic show. Lower Falls with Geof Shaw, Kevin Dambruch, Benny Appleby and Jeremy Clark keeps the crowd moving with an eclectic mix of rock and pop favorites, Dark Crushes with Ron Fletcher, Kevin Dambruch, and Benny Appleby bring a high-energy take on alternative and ’80s-inspired bliss classics. The Relegated, Thomas Buchau, John Kirby, Michael Hale and Mike Boylan turn up the volume with spirited punk rock and hometown attitude. Rounding out the evening is Franc Graham, whose soulful vocals, original songs, and roots-rock sound is a favorite on the music scene.

Visitors can look forward to an exciting lineup of live music throughout the evening, with children’s activities and hands-on art experiences. Local businesses and organizations will be on hand with interactive activities, giveaways, demonstrations, and family-friendly fun. Food vendors will be serving a variety of delicious options throughout the evening.

The Milton Art Center is proud to partner with the Milton Chamber of Commerce in presenting Back to Business. The Milton Art Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community arts organization dedicated to educating, encouraging, and empowering people of all ages through the arts. Since opening in 2012, the Art Center has offered year-round art classes and workshops, summer camps, gallery exhibitions, comedy nights, and creative experiences. First Fridays, free to all, happen each month with local bands performing and featuring local artists at gallery exhibitions.
