Milton Art Center

The Milton Art Center is a nonprofit 501 c (3) art education organization located in East Milton Square, offering classes, workshops, art exhibits, musical performances, lectures and cultural events for all ages.

The gallery main room provides emerging and established local artists an opportunity to showcase their work in exhibits and provides an intimate up-close 120 seat capacity room for local musicians, authors and comedians.

The Milton Art Center organization started in 2012 when they were awarded the lease to the former East Milton branch library, which had been dormant for 2 years. The Milton Art Center evolved from FAVA, Friends and Advocates of the Visual Arts, a parents group unhappy with the lack of art programming in the public schools. FAVA was given permission to run an after school arts program in the schools by then Assistant Superintendent, Mary Gormley in 2003.

Signage

he Milton Art Center has made choices to preserve the historic signage of the former branch library building. A long time serving board member, Scott Love, matched as closely as possible to the original iron letters used in the exterior branch library signage. Scott also designed the front lawn sign to complement other historic properties in Milton.

The Milton Art Center is currently in process of restoring the landscape of the Milton Art Center and installing a new garden on the front lawn to be called the Children’s Color Garden with plants that historically have been used to color garments and furnishings. This educational garden will be used in conjunction with classes at the art center and will beautify the area for local residents walking by on their way to East Milton Square.
