Painting Winter and Spring Scenes with Pastels

Create beautiful paintings using soft pastels while working from photographs of winter and spring landscapes. Students will express themselves with their own style using various types of paper and learning about composition, value, and different painting techniques. Laurinda will demonstrate techniques on each season and will offer plenty of individual instruction. Students must bring their own photographic references, soft pastels and paper.  Supply suggestions on registration page.

Sewing for Adults

Learn to use a sewing machine, draft a pattern, take measurements, cut fabric and sew your own clothing. Projects will be discussed first day of class; choices may range from apron to bag to table runner to top, etc.….

Discover Clay for Adults

In our first class we will experiment with and learn the proper technique of rolling the clay and create a cereal or fruit bowl.  During the 8 weeks you will become more skilled as we experiment with many different shapes that you can design and produce in clay.  A fun, creative, and productive class.

Color as Value in Water Color

Students will review traditional value studies, paint from observations of expressive still life. Attempt Landscapes from reference images and turn value into color. Similarly they will use color as value to paint from images of interior spaces.

Screen Printing 101 Winter '18

During this 5-week screen-printing class you can create your own design and screen-print it onto a t-shirt, poster, cards, or flyers.  Get your message out in an eye-catching way.  Become an entrepreneur and create your own t-shirts and art.

Drawn To Painting

Basic drawing skills are essential for any painter. This 2-part course will combine Beginning Drawing with Beginning Painting. Part 1 will begin with an introduction to basic drawing and working from observation. Topics covered will include shading and working from still life. In Part 2 students will expand on the topics covered in Part 1 while learning the basics of color mixing and applying paint to canvas. Supply suggestions of registration page.

 Beginning Drawing (Part 1):

 Techniques: Line, shape, shading, perspective, composition

Goals: To familiarize students with basic drawing techniques and the ability to render successfully

 Materials: Pencil, drawing pad, eraser

 Beginning Painting (Part 2):

Techniques: Mixing, indirect painting, alla prima, etc.

Goals: To utilize skills learned in Part 1 while learning basic painting skills for students to begin their own personal painting practice.

 Materials: Acrylic paint (or oil), stretched canvas, brushes, etc.
