Open Mic Gear Swap and Guitar Health check-up

Open Mic equipment swap table to be offered

Beginning with the September Open Mic, the MAC will offer an opportunity for attendees to bring in guitars, amps, and other musical items to sell or swap. A table will be set aside where items can be left with price tags and description as well as id of the seller. Sellers must remain in the building during the offering. Deals for sales or swaps are done strictly between attendees with money exchanging hands between seller and buyers only. The MAC would request a donation to the music group of the MAC for each sale. A suggested donation would be typically 10% of the selling price, with a maximum donation of $20. Each price tag should reflect the price of the item as well as the donation to the MAC, allowing sellers to give as much as they desire to the MAC.

For example, a guitar might be for sale for $100. If the seller would like to give a 10% donation to the MAC, the price tag would list the sellers take at $90, and the donation at $10, for a total cost to the buyer of $100. The seller would collect the $100 then donate the $10 to the MAC via the person keeping the bar.

For items that are purely swapped, we leave it to the two persons involved to make what they would consider appropriate donations to the MAC.

We hope this is a useful concept for attendees and we entertain any suggestions anyone has on how to make this more useful and convenient to all.

Milton Open Mic Guitar Health Check

The MAC music staff will offer a guitar health check at an Open Mic event once a quarter. For a donation to the MAC of $3 you can get your guitar checked for important parameters that will address the overall quality and playability of your instrument. A special table will be set up and will be open for the entire evening. Please note, this is a diagnostic analysis of your guitar only. No repairs or changes will be made. You will be given a health check report that you can use in any subsequent discussions with your luthier.

The first clinic will be held at the upcoming September Open Mic, Sept 7th.
