Dot Day!

as_dot day

If you have the book The Dot read it! If you don’t have it you can take it out of the library, or you can watch this video from Peter H. Reynolds, author of The Dot, then create your own dot art!

What you’ll need:

Paper
Pencil
Crayons
Or Markers
Or Watercolor paint
Maybe a Paint Brush

Step One: Start with a dot! Add a dot of any size and color to your paper using a pencil, marker, or crayon.

Step Two: Add more dots! Do you like to draw animals, or maybe people, or perhaps landscapes?

Step Three: Add some details to your Dot drawing. Maybe you want to paint colored circles around your Dots? Or perhaps your dots remind you of your own freckles on your face, turn your Dots into a self-portrait using your pencils then fill it in with paint or crayons. Maybe when you see your Dots you see a pattern that you would like to connect? Add lines and shapes to your Dots then fill in with colors.

Step Four: Take a photo of your dots and share it with us by tagging the MAC on social media and using #ArtShareMAC!, or email your photo to us at info@miltonartcenter.org and we will share it for you!
